Tyre Labelling and Fuel efficency

With the introduction of tyre labelling swiftly approaching and set for its introduction in November 2012, we take a look at how it will effect the way in which consumers will purchase their new tyres.

Lately, theres been a real big focus in the media about fuel efficiency and ensuring the pounds you spend on the forecourt take you miles further. Of course, there are many things that can be done to make sure that your fuel lasts longer, but one key thing many consumers fail to recognise is that their choice of tyre can have a significant impact on how much fuel your vehicle consumes.

Up until now its been difficult for consumers to identify easily the performance tyres will have once fitted. Thats all set to change with tyre labelling. Its difficult to predict just how much the new system will influence consumer choice, and whether they will be swayed instantly by the prospect of fuel efficient tyres rather than swayed by brand influence.

Its important though that consumers are not just swayed by choice with one particular criteria, instead they must consider wet and dry handling, durability and mileage, and ultimately what will suit their vehicle best and their driving habits. Not just how much fuel it can save them.
