In every newspaper across the country there are reports of large multi-national companies going into administration. Reports like this have become common over the past few years, and as a nation we are becoming used to the recession claiming more victims. However with more smaller businesses going into administration across the UK, the effect this has on local economy cannot by any means be overlooked.

We are in an industry which too is often overlooked, but small family ran garages are often the heart of many communities, especially rural across Britain. Just this morning family tyre company Bridgegate tyres have gone into administration. With five branches across Yorkshire, the company became established in 1971 supplying tyres, batteries and exhausts to residents and businesses across the Dales for more than 50 years.

The business has blamed economic problems for the hardships. Mr Bowman said, “We were absolutely devastated but we are trying to pick up the pieces and have regenerated ourselves to a much smaller business.
