The test results
In independent tests, using tyres of differing sizes and with V and W speed ratings (V is 149 mph/240 kph; W is 168 mph/270 kph), the Primacy 3 demonstrated excellence in wet cornering, and wet and dry braking. It also performed well in a noise test, which is a real bonus on long motorway runs.

The reviews
Despite this, online customer reviews are showing mixed results with many drivers saying that the Primacy 3 is giving lower mileages than its predecessor the Primacy HP. Some report that they are seeing only 10-11000 miles from a tyre before it wears although others are delighted with the performance and say that they are easily getting in excess of 20000 miles from the Primacy 3. There are also variations in reports regarding the tyre’s grip capabilities with some declaring themselves to be distinctly under-whelmed by Michelin’s stated improvements while others think the tyre is the best thing since sliced bread and are very impressed by the grip, particularly in the dry. Of course, different driving styles in different cars and in varying road conditions are bound to throw up wildly differing opinions but the overall impression is that the Primacy 3 is good value for money.
Retailing at around £58 – £189 (approximately) the Michelin Primacy 3 is not the cheapest tyre around but you get what you pay for and with this one you get a very safe, reliable and competent tyre for your money. If you’d like to check out the best price for Michelin Primacy 3, then why not take a look at Tyrequote.com to get the best quote in your area for Michelin tyres.

With the advent of the modern motor industry, leading car manufacturers including the popular Mercedes-Benz have rolled out brand-specific parts and other accessories to be used exclusively on their cars. This includes tyres, and recently, there have been concerns raised about this supposed ‘customization’ of tyres and other factors revolving around it. Whether or not these original markings, that are usually inscribed on brand specific tyres, have any considerable influence on their suitability for use, is no longer a subject of speculation. In case you’re wondering whether using a non “M.O” marked tyre in your Mercedes is going to affect the performance or safety of the vehicle, then this short but detailed look into this subject might just clear the air.

What does MO stand for?

‘M.O’ which stands for Mercedes Original, is a trademark logo inscribed on tyres that this giant car manufacturer assembles to be used specifically with it’s branded vehicles. Not long ago, Bridgestone ( A UK-based tyre and independent tyre and auto care company) introduced a luxury line of M.O – Mercedes Only tyres to be used by luxury car brands including the Volkswagen Passat, BMW and Audi A4. These tyres have been solely made to optimise the luxurious comfort and performance of these cars while still maintaining high standards of safety and durability. So this raises the questions; Does it pay to invest in MO marked tyres for my vehicle of is it just some sort of branding hype? Is it permissible by law to replace MO tyres with non-MO tyres? What are some of the added advantages of riding on MO tyres?

The benefits of MO tyres

Truly speaking, there are some proven profits of using an MO marked tyre as compared to conventional tyres this includes;

Optimised car stability and balance: The MO marked tyres are designed exclusively for the use with the vehicle’s suspension system and enhanced tread patterns to offer more control and better handling of the car.

Reduced driving noise levels: The tyres are manufactured to fit specifically the car’s body’s and weight dimensions. This results in the vehicle’s mass been better proportionally distributed and a noise-free ride.

Increased steering responsiveness: The MO marked tyres integrate a unique and intelligent design that includes a longitudinal rib that runs along the tyres’ groove to allow precise directional steering when driving.

Despite the numerous profits attached to using M.O marked tyres, at times, it may not be possible to replace your worn out tyres with these original branded tyres due to availability and costs constraints. In such an event, you may replace the tyres with non-MO branded versions but it’s worth getting a quote from tyrequote.com to find get the best deal on M.O tyres in your local area. Nevertheless, it’s important to point out that the vehicle insurance may be invalidated if, in case of an accident, the use of these non-manufacturer-approved tyres, is cited as a contributory factor.

Owning and running a car is an expensive business nowadays and tyres can be one of the biggest expenses. However, if you are on a limited budget and don’t fancy paying hundreds of pounds for the latest tyres there is the option of going for a budget tyre or even a part-worn tyre. And usually there is very little difference in price in the case of good part-worns and new budget tyres. But there are several issues to consider when making your decision, not least the safety aspect.

Tyre regulations for part-worn tyres

The Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 lays down strict rules regarding part-worn tyres including;

A part-worn tyre must not have cuts longer than 25mm (or 10% of the section width of the tyre) and the original grooves must be to a depth of at least 2mm across the full breadth of the tread.

It should have no lumps, bulges or tears both internally and externally and no cords or piles should be exposed.

It must still show all the original markings including speed ratings and feature the words ‘PART-WORN’ in 4mm high letters.

What to consider

Consider these points: do you know where the tyre has come from? Has the tyre been previously punctured and repaired? Tyre wear is unique to each vehicle and a part-worn tyre will have ‘moulded’ to the vehicle it was originally fitted to so this may potentially cause steering or wear anomalies which may require tracking correction or even, in the worst cases, may affect your car’s suspension. A brand new tyre comes with a tread depth of 8mm whereas a part-worn tyre can legally be sold with as little as 3mm of tread depth so, considering the legal minimum is 1.6mm then it is obvious that a part-worn tyre will have a limited lifespan on your car. It may also have less grip on the road, especially in adverse weather conditions. So, although a part-worn tyre may be suitable as a short-term solution it could prove to be a false economy.

A new ‘budget’ tyre, on the other hand, comes with a manufacturers guarantee for peace of mind. From brand new it will adjust to your car and your driving style and because it will already have more tread depth it will obviously last longer and will have better grip on the road surface; more reassuring from a safety point of view.

There are, nowadays, increasing numbers of drivers looking for and buying tyres on the Internet, whereas numbers were negligible until fairly recently. The last five years has seen an unprecedented explosion in online shopping of all types, but most especially in the field of tyre buying. The UK appears to be leading the charge in this area, with a doubling in numbers of people preferring to buy tyres online only, in the space of one twelve month period; and other European countries are not far behind. Recent surveys have shown that some 45% (approximately) of motorists are making tyre purchases online and this figure is expected to continue rising, particularly amongst younger motorists, who are at the forefront of most advances with the use of technology. It is not just men either, female drivers are just as likely to research, and buy their tyres online.

Why buy tyres online?
It is said that the main factors driving this increase are price, choice and convenience. Online companies are not restricted to nine to five working hours. The convenience of being able to compare tyres and prices quickly and easily from the comfort of one’s own home, at any time day or night and 365 days a year, is a big attraction. Drivers are feeling increasingly satisfied with the online buying experience because of the discounts and vast choice of tyre brands available and this is reflected in the numbers willing to repeat the experience of buying tyres online. Added to this are things such as improvements in customer service and technical assistance, which can only give an encouraging boost to Internet tyre retailers.

Comparing prices is a big attraction
Many of the biggest names in tyre retailing have also seen the advantages to be had through selling online by reaching more customers and so increasing sales. It is possible to compare different tyre brands and prices in order to get the best deal, in the same way that you can use comparison websites for such things such as insurance and utilities. The internet has certainly provided a more level playing field which enables smaller companies to compete with the big boys more fairly and the bigger names will now offer tyres more cheaply or will sometimes price-match.
When you look at the obvious advantages of researching and buying tyres online it is hard to see why anyone should go to the trouble of actually going to a tyre shop at all, considering the inconvenience and the limitations in choice. Simply visit tyrequote.com, and all your options will be easily visible, allowing you to make the best choice for your car.

We all know that feeling, it’s pouring down with rain, sleet or snow (the great British weather) and you suddenly realise you’ve got a flat tyre. Or worse, perhaps you’ve been stopped on a routine traffic stop and the police have noticed your tread is low. Of course it doesn’t have to be as dramatic as all that, you may have picked up on the problem yourself, but whichever way it’s happened, you need to find a tyre dealer in Leeds, and you haven’t got much time to spare.

Finding tyre dealers in Leeds is easy, but finding a good tyre dealer in Leeds that ticks all of your boxes can be a little trickier, so there are some things you’re going to need to consider.

How local is your “local tyre dealer”

It’s important to choose a tyre dealer in Leeds that’s not only local, but that also is accessible in case you have to leave your car there for some time. Look for good transport links, close to your home or work in case there’s a delay, and choose one that you think offers the best situation in case you have to either wait, or come back later.

When are they open?

It’s one thing finding the perfectly places tyre dealer, but if they’re closed on a Saturday and you have no time off work, then you’re stumped. Choosing a tyre dealer in Leeds that is open late, or better yet, on weekends might suit you better. If you’re looking for one that opens early, then you could go on your way into work.

Do they stock my tyres?

Of course location and opening times that suit you are no good if you can’t get the tyres you need. Finding a car tyre dealer in Leeds that has the tyres you want is definitely a priority.

How expensive are they?

Imagine searching for the perfect tyres online, getting them fitted then finding you friend managed to get theirs at half the price. Frustrating hey? Making sure you’re getting the right deal is important, as no one wants to pay over the odds for their tyres.

Of course, there’s one simple way to make sure all your boxes are ticked when searching for tyre dealers in Leeds, and that’s to use www.tyrequote.com, where you can find vetted tyre dealers in Leeds and all the information, and prices needed to make the right decision. Happy motoring!

Whether you’re living or working in Ipswich, or you’re just visiting and need new tyres for your vehicle, the likelihood is that you’ll have to spend some time looking on the Internet for a local dealer who meets your needs. There are some things you’ll need to consider though, if you’re looking for a tyre dealer in Ipswich that you may not have thought about.

When are they open?
If you need tyres in a hurry, you’re likely to want to look for a tyre dealer who’s open later, or on weekends. These days we live busy lives and need our cars most days, so going without your car for a time while you wait for the tyre dealer to open isn’t likely to be a very good idea. That said, if you have use of someone else’s car for a couple of days, waiting for the cheaper dealer might be an option. Think about what really matters to you, speed or price and then go from there.

Do I need to make an appointment?
Some tyre merchants operate on an appointment only fitting service, whereas some can see to you right away. Again, choosing who to get your tyres from depends on whether you prefer a set time to take your vehicle in for new tyres or whether you’re going to take a risk that they won’t be busy.

How close are they to my transport links?
If you’re choosing a drop in service, they may require you to drop your vehicle off and pick it up later on. Consider what you need to do within this space of time. Is there a coffee shop with Wi-Fi nearby, where you could get on with some work, or can you pop into work on the bus or even on foot from your chosen garage. Considering this before you choose your tyre dealer in Ipswich will ensure you’re not waiting, frustrated for your tyres to be fitted.

Doing research beforehand will ensure that you’re well informed in advance of needing tyres, and one way to do this is by using TyreQuote.com. This will allow you to get prices and find tyre dealers in Ipswich that stock your tyres, at the right price for you. Then all you need to do is get in touch and find out if you need to make an appointment, and where in the local area they are. It couldn’t’ be easier!

In many European countries, winter tyres are a legal requirement. The Scottish Government are leading an investigation into whether they need to be looking to our neighbouring countries policy and taking notice. The UK is prone to cold weather, drops in temperatures, snow, ice and rain especially during the winter months and a set of winter tyres can truly make the world of difference to your driving experience and your safety.

Winter tyres are not just for ice and snow, but have a great safety advantage to reducing accidents in cold and wet conditions too. It comes as no exaggeration to say that winter tyres can save lives.

Whenever the temperature drops below 7C, then manufacturers recommend winter tyres. But what exactly are they?

Winter tyres differ from ordinary tyres due to the materials that they’re made from. They are constructed with a high silica content rubber, more intricately designed tread patterns and tread blocks which are why they grip the roads with more force and allow a safer breaking over slippery ground.

Reputable Sources Agree:

The RAC say: ‘Drivers begin to take an interest in winter tyres when it’s too late. For safety grounds we definitely recommend them’.

TyreSafe say: ‘We are all for winter tyres due to them undoubtedly being much safer, there is misinformation around over high costs but with these tyres being so safe and so durable this cost is justified’.

Getting the Best Price

One of the downsides to having your vehicle fitted with winter tyres is the expense. Due to the higher quality of materials, they do have a higher price tag and this is where TyreQuote come to the rescue to ensure you get the absolute best price possible. In addition to this, we can also match you with the best tyre fitter in your area based on their reputation for customer service, ratings and feedback system. Statistically we can save you more than 43% of the overall cost of winter tyres and fitting.

TyreQuote provide expert and impartial advice on how to care for your tyres to save money in the long run by reducing maintenance and repair costs. We offer fully inclusive quotes and convenient online booking services. The tyre specialists we link users with are all tried and trusted professionals. You simply enter your car registration details into our easy online form to be provided with a shortlist of our recommended tyres that will include prices of both the tyres and the fitting, the location of the supplier along with their reviews. It couldn’t be easier!

Everyone who owns a vehicle knows you will need to change the tyres at some point. Finding the best deal quickly though can be a nightmare and if you need a new tyre quickly, the likelihood is that you won’t want to go trawling round garages for the best quote, or filling in your details on twenty different websites. Have you ever thought about sitting in the warmth and comfort of your own home and purchasing them? It can be done!

Why might I need to find cheap tyres in Birmingham?

Cars, vans and motorbikes all require tyres at some stage no matter how carefully you drive. Wear and tear will occur no matter how smooth the road or how carefully you drive. You may have a slow puncture or a complete blow out; whatever the reason, you’ll need to find replacements at affordable prices. However, it can be a real hassle to find cheap tyres in Birmingham. The prices will vary from garage to garage and keeping up with what you have been quoted can get you all tangled up. The whole experience can be exhausting; which can also mean you will stick with a quote, whatever the cost, just to get the whole process over and done with, if you get fed up of looking.

How can I get the best deal on cheap tyres in Birmingham without the hassle?

What if you could cut out the rushing around? Stop going into every garage across Birmingham to get the prices? Now you can. Tyrequote.com gives you the options and ideas and allows you make an informed decision on the best tyres and price for you. We do all the legwork for you so you do not have to by simply bringing you cheap tyre quotes in your area. Just type in your registration number plate or the dimensions of the tyres you need, press search and sit back and relax while it does all hard work for you. Once you have your search results, you can read it at your leisure without a hard sell from us or the garages, allowing you to decide on what suits you, your vehicle and your budget, best.

You can even book your vehicle in via the web site to get the work done at a time most convenient for you, all from the comfort of your home.

We vet all the garages used on Tyrequote as we only want to bring you the best in tyre fitters. We have no connections with any of the garages so you can rest assured; you are getting an independent quote, but from a garage that we have vetted prior to you receiving your quote.

The next time you need cheap tyres fast but do not want to pay top price, search on tyrequote.com for cheap tyres in Birmingham, or any other area and take the hassle out of finding new tyres.

What happens to tyres when they are recycled?

As a society we are becoming increasingly environmentally aware. O We like to know how many air miles our food has done, the carbon footprint of the various appliances we have at home and whether or not something is recyclable. Ever wondered what happens to the old tyres that are removed from your car?

In July 2007 it became a legal requirement to recycle all tyres. On leaving any tyres at your garage, you should be asked to contribute towards their safe disposal, usually between £1/£2. The garage will have a contract with a collection company, who after collecting up the tyres will pass onto a partner organisation whose responsibility it will be to process the unwanted items. They will make the decision to either re-use or recycle.

Of course, there is the option to take the tyres to your local recycling centre. Garages are not permitted to do this. They have to follow specific protocols as the tyres left there are considered commercial waste.

Re-using old tyres

If the tyres are deemed acceptable for reuse, they undergo a remoulding process. First, the tyres are buffed down – this is the term given to removal of the tread. A new tread is fixed on and the side walls are moulded back into place, ready to be sold back to the general public.

Recycling of old tyres

Tyres that are excessively damaged are broken down to be recycled. Where this is the case, the metal parts are separated and dealt with as per guidelines. The rubber crumb, a by product of the granulation process is then used in a whole manner of different ways. Here are some of its most popular uses:

Playground surfaces based on recycled rubber granules are softer than concrete or tarmac. Recycled tyres can also be used to provide a base for athletics tracks, and a rubber base also makes for more realistic artificial grass.

Carpet underlay made from tyre rubber can be guaranteed for up to 25 years! Particularly suitable in areas where there is a lot of traffic i.e. hallway, stairs

Stationary that lasts. Everything from erasers, pencil cases, mouse mats to notebook covers, bookmarks and coasters.

Mulching the garden. By using granulated tyres you can be rest assured that you will never have to replace the chippings in your garden. Not only does the material prevent weed growth and deters pests but it also doesn’t suck the moisture from plants, keeping them well hydrated.

There is also the age old, tried and tested tyre recycling method of hanging it from a tree and having a swing!

It is estimated that around 115 million tyres are sold in the EU each year. The new tyre labelling regulation came into force in November 2012, which is to clearly display each tyres individual detail. The details include things such as; the quality of the tyre, it’s fuel efficiency, noise volume and braking abilities in wet conditions.

The labelling system grades tyres from an A to a G based on:

Wet Grip (safety)

Rolling Resistance (fuel efficiency)

Number of Decibels (DBS to display their rolling noise)

The labels are of a great advantage to consumers who can now compare tyres based on the clear information in place

- and choose the best performer, for their own requirements. The European Commission estimate that, due to tyres accounting for between 20% – 30% of a vehicle’s fuel consumption, if you select an A rated tyre for its energy efficiency then you could be saving around £200 per year in petrol costs. When you take into account the higher price of tyres in the A classification as oppose to those in the G the break-

even point is met within the second year of purchase, i.e. long before the end of life for higher quality tyres.

A survey carried out by French Automobile Club Association, within five major European countries. The findings were that 80% of consumers were in favour of the new tyre labelling system, and 85% said that they would be willing to pay a higher price for a tyre that displayed both increased safety and increased energy confirmation.

The main reason for the new tyre legislation is to coincide with the EU energy efficiency action plan, which aims to reduce the total energy consumption within the European Union by 20% by the year 2020.

Tyre labels and exceptions

Tyres that are; vintage, re-treaded, spares, studded, motorcycles, racing or that have

a speed rating of under 80 km/h do not have to have the labels affixed. However, all standard passenger cars, 4×4’s and vans do.

When choosing your tyres, it’s best to go for a supplier who can provide you with a range of quality tyres to suit your vehicle. Whilst there are many retailers of tyres, few go the extra mile to see what will suit your particular needs, and knowing how to choose the right one will ensure that you not only get better performance, but it could save you money in the long run too.
