Pirelli calenders are famed for their risque images of nude beautiful women pictured around the world. This year though, the 40th edition of the calender, revealed in Rio de Janerio celebrate social and natural beauty. We wonder how receivers of the calender felt about Steve McCurry’s creation?
Supermodel Adriana Lima became the first model to pose pregnant, revealing her bump to the world whilst leaning against a concrete wall. Mr McCurry said that he wanted to divert attention away from the female form in the nude instead highlighting during the press conference that, “You can photograph nudes anywhere , but these models are clothed and each of them has her own charity. They are purposeful and idealistic people. So I wanted to photograph them in a special place, and Rio was perfect for this.”

Mr McCurry did not just photography supermodels, he also pictured scenes with no people at all and normal people going about their everyday lives taking the focus further away from the typical nudity the calender is famed for.
