Met office reports have this week suggested that the latter half of November will be one that will send gritters into a frenzy on Britain’s roads. It has been reported that temperatures could be set to plummet to below -15C meaning not only a risk of snow, but also icy hazardous conditions. It has never been a more vital time to check that your vehicle is up to brace the cold weather.

Don’t get caught out in the cold
During last winter, over 30% skidded on either snow or ice, and around 10% of drivers experienced a flat battery at some point during the winter. With figures like these, its easy to see why the government are putting out the warnings early so motorists don’t get caught out.
Drivers are knowingly ignoring some of the simplest winter checks with the excuse that they “don’t have time”, however by carrying out a few checks each week, motorists can be up to five times safer on the winter roads. Carrying out winter checks does not have to be time consuming, and can be built in easily to even the most hectic of routines. Simple checks like ensuring there is a 50-50 antifreeze and water mix in your radiator can ensure reliability, and checking tyres for pressure or cuts and bluges can improve not only performance but gripping in icy weather.
So why not pop your coat on, get outside and spend 5 minutes investing time in your road safety this winter.
