What should you value more?

It’s a question you have probably asked yourselves a thousand times; “What is it that my customers want?”. Or course the obvious answer is tyres! But sometimes its important to take a step back and re-evaluate not only what you are selling, but the way in which you are selling it.

What should you be valuing more? Your marketing strategy or customer service?

Many garages hold the view that in order to sell more, they need to lower their prices and costs in order to boost their profit margins. It cannot be disputed that a many customers value low prices, they are attracted to the promise of a small bill; especially when the cost of motoring is rising. However lately more and more national companies are placing emphasis on customer service. It seems that customer service may outweigh price…so rather than selling yourself short, why not sell on the basis of service?

Of course, many garages are investing in marketing strategies to promote their businesses  but just how worthwhile is this? Ask yourself the question…how can you market something without a sold reputation?

It is easy to see the value in social media marketing, especially for small businesses. The cost is relatively low, and if managed correctly not too time consuming to divert your attentions. However, there are a few golden rules to remember. When using social media to interact with customers, remember who it is you are talking too. You are representing your business, and should want to do so in the best light. But why not use your customer feedback instead of diving head first into a time consuming and often costly marketing strategy?

Word of mouth is one of the strongest forms of marketing, and if someone has received exceptional service they will be likely to recommend you to a friend. And if you want to promote recommendations, you can easily set up a loyalty scheme offer.

Customer service is your strongest asset  and needs to be instilled in the minds of your employees to ensure you maintain standards you are renowned for. Rather than pricing yourself out of the market, promote good solid customer service, and you will see you investment pay off.
