TyreQuote.com is spreading, and now we are mobile so you can access great quotes on the move.
Its safe to say the majority of people in the UK own a mobile phone and that the majority of these devices are web-enabled. The way we use the internet is constantly changing, and with more devices enabled for internet usage, desktop sites are only one aspect to consider when creating a website. According to latest statistics 12.59% of all web activity was accessed from a mobile.
It’s not just that a lot of people use mobile internet, it’s also that its practical too: especially when needing information quickly. With this in mind, TyreQuote.com has gone mobile.
Our new mobile site is easier to use than ever before. Our in house developer James said:
“Developing a mobile version of our website has been an exciting challenge. There were several options available to me, from simply styling the main website to look a bit neater on a small screen to developing a whole new site optimised purely for mobile handsets. I chose to write a dedicated mobile site so that I could review every customer interaction and try to make each one as simple as possible to streamline the whole process of requesting tyre quotes. Time is money and people don’t have all day to fiddle about trying to tap lots of detail into a small space, so I’ve tried to cut the number of inputs down to the absolute minimum whilst also taking enough detail to provide accurate quotes for that customer.
I have incorporated the excellent mobile jquery library into a HTML5 website to create the mobile interface and use AJAX requests to retrieve vehicle registration data, location data and of course the tyre data generated from the customer’s search.
The next stage of mobile development is to package the mobile site as a useful free web based app for the iPhone and Android app stores. Initially our app will simply make finding new tyres really simple for the mobile user but I also have some great ideas to extend this functionality so that the app will be useful for other aspects of motoring as well.
Mobile websites are the future, they bring the internet to your fingertips wherever you may be. I am delighted with the start we have made in the mobile market and customers have responded very well indeed, but this is just the beginning of a sustained investment in our mobile platform.”
So there you have it. Whether you are out and about and needing tyres quickly, or prefer browsing via mobile devices you can now get TyreQuote.com on the go no matter wherever you are.
