Avon Tyres was founded in 1885 and operated out of an old cloth mill in Bath, England.
During World War II, Avon tyres were fitted to almost every type of military vehicle and the company employed over two thousand people bidding to support the war effort.
At the forefront of innovations in the tyre manufacturing industry, Avon became involved in motor cycle racing and every solo champion rider was using Avon Tyres from 1958 to 1963.
In 1981 Avon started their race tyre production. This resulted in a contract to supply Formula 3 Racing, which is still held today.
In 1997, Avon merged with Cooper Tire & Rubber to create Cooper-Avon Tyres Limited.
